Unexpected Pleasures

Last Friday I made the journey to The Design Museum in London to see the exhibition Unexpected Pleasures, which had been recommend to me. And I was not disappointed.

I saw three exhibitions that day and this was by far the best. Although it was a jewellery exhibition, I don't think you would have to have an particular interest in jewellery to enjoy it. The pieces were experimental, playful, colourful, humorous, sculptural – in short, it was fab! I came out into the cold riverside air feeling very buoyant indeed and you can't get much better than that.

Inspirational fashion illustration

Saw two great fashion illustration exhibitions in London today. The first was Rene Gruau, long championed by David Downton, at Somerset House and the second was Drawing Fashion at the Design museum, worth the freezing cold walk from Tower Bridge.

Mats Gustavson was the highlight for me, you can see a selection of his work here:

And I'd like to know which of you is willing to shell out £45 for the wonderful Rene Gruau coffee table book for me? Haven't I been very, very good indeed (and it's such a long wait until next Christmas)?
